Spillane was named the Raiders’ most improved player in a recent Pro Football Focus article that included the most improved players from each NFL team.
At the end of the season, Spillane had the top Pro Football Focus grade in the Raiders linebacker room and the third-highest grade on the Silver and Black defense, according to Pro Football Focus. His final Pro Football Focus grades were 77.0, 89.0 for run defense, and 87.1 for pass rush.
Pro Football Focus lists Spillane as one of the players who made the biggest progress from 2022 to 2023. With 52 solo tackles, 27 assists, and 1.0 sacks in 16 games, Spillane concluded the 2022 season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 52.5. Furthermore, Spillane played fewer than 600 snaps in his tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played 1,100 snaps this season, which is a career-high for him.
