Insider Report: Steelers Considering Russell Wilson as an Option
The Pittsburgh Steelers are exploring quarterback options for the upcoming season, considering both young prospects like Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph. However, NFL insider Peter King suggests that the Steelers are also eyeing veteran quarterbacks, specifically pointing to Denver Broncos’ Russell Wilson as a potential candidate.
King expressed this possibility during a radio appearance on 93.7 The Fan, indicating that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin might prefer an experienced signal-caller. Another Steelers insider, Ed Bouchette, echoed the sentiment, describing the signing of Russell Wilson as a “no-brainer” for Pittsburgh.
While Wilson is currently under contract with the Broncos, there’s speculation that he could be released before free agency if a trade doesn’t materialize. The Steelers, not necessarily inclined to trade for a veteran quarterback, might explore the option of signing Wilson in free agency.
