The Michigan Wolverines are set to sign the assistant defensive coordinator of the Chiefs.

Will the Michigan Wolverines appoint Joe Cullen as their next defensive coordinator?

For a short while, the Michigan Wolverines remained unharmed and ruled the collegiate football landscape following their first National Championship since 1997. The anticipated departure of head coach Jim Harbaugh, who had been linked to a comeback to the NFL following his four winning seasons with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014, was the first. Then word spread that Jesse Minter, the defensive coordinator for the Wolverines, would most likely accompany Harbaugh to the NFL and join the Los Angeles Chargers as their defensive coordinator.

Sherrone Moore, the offensive coordinator, remained in Ann Arbor and succeeded Harbaugh as the head coach of the reigning National Champions. Kirk Campbell was swiftly chosen by Moore to succeed him as the Wolverines’ offensive coordinator. However, there remains a need on the defensive end, and Michigan is keeping an eye on an NFL player who, like Harbaugh, Moore, and Minter, can honestly call himself a champion.

According to sources cited by CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, “Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen is considered a candidate for several defensive coordinator jobs.” “His name is associated with the University of Michigan, the Seahawks, and the Commanders.”

Kansas City Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen could be heading to Michigan

Joe Cullen brings a strong CV to any job interview, having worked as a successful defensive line coach in the NFL for more than 15 years, the past two of which he spent with the Kansas City Chiefs, the current AFC champions and the defending Super Bowl victors. It’s interesting to note that Cullen worked for the Baltimore Ravens for five years as the defensive line coach under Jim Harbaugh’s brother, John Harbaugh, prior to his present position with Kansas City.

For Super Bowl LVIII, Joe Cullen and the Chiefs are on their way to Las Vegas today. It is unclear if Cullen will speak with Michigan, the Seahawks, or the Commanders before or after the game.
