“Corey Dennis Transitions to Offensive Analyst Role at Utah; Potential Coaching Changes at Ohio State and Utah’s Offensive Success”

Former Ohio State football quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis has transitioned to a new coaching opportunity within the Power 5 conference.

A spokesperson from Utah confirmed that Dennis has been appointed as an offensive analyst on coach Kyle Whittingham’s staff. Dennis’s inclusion in the Utah personnel directory further validates his new role.

Ohio State opted not to renew Dennis’s contract upon the arrival of Bill O’Brien as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. However, Ohio State indicated that Dennis was expected to shift into an unspecified role within the program. Presumably, this role would resemble the analyst position he has now assumed at Utah.

Having spent his entire coaching career at Ohio State, Dennis rose through the ranks from intern to graduate assistant to senior quality control coach before serving as quarterbacks coach for four years. Notably, his tenure at Ohio State coincided with Justin Fields’ 2020 season and both Heisman Trophy finalist seasons for C.J. Stroud.

With O’Brien potentially departing for the head coach position at Boston College, Ohio State may soon need to find a replacement. Reports suggest that O’Brien is the leading candidate for the role, and the school has already commenced interviews for the position.

Over the past few years, coaches Day and Whittingham have cultivated a cordial coaching relationship, partially stemming from Ohio State’s memorable 48-45 comeback victory over Utah in the 2021 Rose Bowl. Despite a slight downturn with an 8-5 record last season, Utah had previously achieved at least 10 wins in three consecutive non-pandemic seasons, consistently boasting a top-25 offense in yards per play during those successful campaigns.
