Tom Brady spits raw facts on Bill Belichick’s unexpected job loss and likeness to end 2024 unemployed.

It’s hard to believe that only a month has passed since the Patriots and coach Bill Belichick went their separate ways, and what’s especially surprising is that despite the constant speculation, Belichick hasn’t secured a new coaching position. Seven NFL teams, aside from the Patriots, have hired new coaches, yet none seemed to be the right fit for Belichick, who stands as one of just three coaches with 300 wins and is just 27 wins shy of surpassing Don Shula for the most wins in NFL history.

Perhaps it’s not entirely unexpected given the Patriots’ disappointing 4-13 season last year. However, for Tom Brady, who spent two decades playing under Belichick in New England, the fact that Belichick is likely to remain unemployed in the NFL for 2024 is surprising.

“I’m surprised that the greatest coach ever doesn’t have a job,” Brady expressed to Jim Gray on the “Let’s Go!” podcast, where he was hosting legendary quarterback Steve Young. “Absolutely, but, I’m surprised by a lot of things in the NFL. When I was a free agent, there were a lot of teams that didn’t want me. So, you know, there’s a lot of things that happen that, for one reason or another, don’t go exactly the way you think they should go.”

The fact that a coach of Belichick’s caliber wasn’t able to secure a job makes more sense in light of recent suggestions, most notably from former quarterback and analyst Boomer Esiason, that Belichick had been offered the Falcons’ head coaching job after a thorough series of interviews with owner Arthur Blank and others in the organization last month. However, Blank refuted these claims, stating that Belichick had not been offered the job, and instead, the Falcons hired Raheem Morris.

Nevertheless, it’s unlikely that we’ve seen the last of Belichick in the NFL, whether it happens sooner or later. One speculative idea suggests that if Chiefs coach Andy Reid retires should Kansas City win the Super Bowl, Belichick could step in to replace Reid. However, this remains purely speculative at this point, and Reid has given no indication that he plans to leave his position.

Another possibility is that Belichick waits and returns in 2025 when job openings such as those with the New York Giants, the Chicago Bears, the Dallas Cowboys, or the Buffalo Bills could arise.
