The head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders was ranked as the lowest…
Despite his absence from coaching the Las Vegas Raiders for the final nine games of the season, former head coach Josh McDaniels did not receive any leniency from players in the NFLPA survey released on Tuesday. According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, McDaniels received the lowest grade among all 32 NFL head coaches.
McDaniels was given a ‘D’ grade, while Ron Rivera of Washington ranked 31st with a ‘C’. In contrast, Andy Reid of Kansas City, Dan Campbell of Detroit, and Kevin O’Connell of Minnesota all tied for the highest grade with an A+.
In the NFLPA’s second player survey report card, McDaniels received the lowest grade among NFL head coaches. Hired by the Raiders in 2022, McDaniels was let go after amassing a 9-16 record with the AFC West team. With this dismissal, the 47-year-old now holds a 20-33 record as an NFL head coach, marking two unsuccessful coaching stints, the first being with the Denver Broncos from 2009 to 2010.
NFL head coach grades, according to the NFLPA survey:
A+: Andy Reid, Dan Campbell, Kevin O’Connell.
A: Sean McDermott, Zac Taylor, Mike McCarthy, Sean McVay, Mike McDaniel, Nick Sirianni, Mike Tomlin, Kyle Shanahan, Pete Carroll.
A-: Jonathan Gannon, Sean Payton, Brian Daboll, Doug…
Following McDaniels’ dismissal, the Raiders appointed linebackers coach Antonio Pierce as interim head coach, guiding the team to a 5-4 record. In contrast to McDaniels, Pierce garnered enthusiastic reviews from his players throughout the season.
Moreover, the former Super Bowl champions orchestrated a remarkable 63-21 triumph over the Los Angeles Chargers, one of the most decisive victories in franchise history.
Despite receiving the lowest grade among NFL head coaches, the Las Vegas Raiders excelled in various other areas. They earned a grade of ‘B’ or higher in categories such as food, nutrition, locker room, training room, training staff, weight room, strength coaches, and owner satisfaction.
The Raiders relocated to Las Vegas in 2020, playing in the new $1.9 billion Allegiant Stadium, which boasts remarkable facilities and is considered one of the most impressive sporting venues in the country. Allegiant Stadium hosted Super Bowl LVIII earlier this month, where the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the San Francisco 49ers.
While the Raiders fell short in family treatment compared to other aspects, they still ranked significantly higher than the Los Angeles Chargers, who faced criticism on Tuesday due to reports of charging for offsite daycare services.
