The Kansas City Chiefs are extensively researching potential successors for tight end Travis Kelce this offseason. Kelce, who expressed his intention to return to the Chiefs after February’s Super Bowl for a shot at a three-peat, might consider retiring after the 2024 season. Speculation arose regarding his retirement following the 2023 season, particularly with his brother Jason’s recent retirement after 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. It is anticipated that Jason will follow suit after the 2024 season.

One of the prospects the Chiefs are eyeing is Ja’Tavion Sanders from Texas. According to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, the Chiefs have identified Sanders as a potential replacement for Kelce in this year’s draft. Sanders, known for his exceptional athleticism, has drawn interest with his impressive Combine performance and extensive interviews with NFL teams. Although many analysts rank him as the second-best tight end in this year’s rookie class behind Brock Bowers, he holds significant promise as a top prospect.

Additionally, the Chiefs are intrigued by Iowa tight end Erick All. Despite not participating in the Combine due to a knee injury, All has garnered attention for his impressive tape and physical attributes. While initially projected as a Day 3 pick, his stock seems to be rising, drawing interest from teams like the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers.

As the Chiefs prepare for life after Kelce, they recognize the need to bolster their pass-catching options beyond Rashee Rice.
