The Panthers have reached a massive agreement with Bills cornerback.

The Carolina Panthers have confirmed their agreement with former Buffalo Bills cornerback Dane Jackson. This move comes as a replacement for Donte Jackson, who was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers as part of a deal involving wide receiver Diontae Johnson and a swap of late-round draft picks. Dane Jackson is expected to compete for a starting position alongside Jaycee Horn.

Jackson, 27, started 28 games over four seasons with the Bills, recording three interceptions and a fumble recovery. His most productive season was in 2022, starting 14 games and securing two interceptions.

Panthers’ new general manager Dan Morgan was part of the Bills’ front office in 2020 when Jackson was drafted in the seventh round.

Additionally, the Panthers re-signed cornerback Troy Hill and wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette. They also announced the release of three starters from last season: tight end Hayden Hurst, center Bradley Bozeman, and safety Vonn Bell.

Hurst, who joined the team last summer, had a disappointing season, catching just 18 passes for 184 yards and one touchdown before missing the final eight games due to a concussion. Bozeman played in all 17 games, but the Panthers’ offense allowed 65 sacks, the second-highest in the league. Bell played 13 games, contributing with one interception and two pass breakups.
