Red Bull team principal suggests a proposition to Oliver Bearman following his F1 debut, questioning Ferrari’s actions.
Red Bull’s Helmut Marko has called on Ferrari’s Fred Vasseur to secure a seat for 18-year-old Oliver Bearman on another Formula 1 team. Bearman impressed in his F1 debut for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, finishing seventh ahead of Lewis Hamilton. With Charles Leclerc and Hamilton set at Ferrari for the foreseeable future, Marko believes Bearman’s talent would be best served elsewhere.
Marko praised Bearman’s debut, noting his strong performance despite minimal preparation. He questioned Ferrari’s approach, especially with the signing of Hamilton and Leclerc’s long-term contract. Marko suggested Vasseur should find Bearman a seat with another team, possibly Haas, to avoid the need for Ferrari to invest further in his development.
Marko compared Bearman to Red Bull’s Liam Lawson and MotoGP’s Pedro Acosta, highlighting their exceptional talent and immediate impact. He praised Acosta’s aggressive racing style and Bearman’s impressive debut, emphasizing the desire to see such performances in motorsport.
Vasseur, on the other hand, remained cautious about discussing Ferrari’s long-term plans, particularly with Hamilton’s arrival still pending. He acknowledged Bearman’s achievement but emphasized the importance of Bearman’s continued development in F2 and his upcoming FP1 sessions with Haas to gain more experience.
