The Panthers have signed a former 1,000-yard receiver.
Mike Williams and the Carolina Panthers are showing mutual interest, with Williams set to visit the Panthers this week, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Williams, a former 1,000-yard receiver, will also meet with the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers. Williams was released by the Los Angeles Chargers after seven seasons. His most productive year was in 2021, when he recorded 76 receptions for 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns
.
With the Carolina Panthers looking to bolster their offensive weapons around sophomore quarterback Bryce Young, signing Mike Williams could provide valuable experience alongside the young QB. The recent trade for Diontae Johnson already adds depth to the receiving corps.
If Williams joins the team and lines up opposite Johnson, it could create a formidable receiving duo. Additionally, veteran Adam Thielen is expected to play in the slot, further enhancing the Panthers’ receiving options for the 2024 season.
