Breaking News: A cornerback for the Detroit Lions was arrested and charged with domestic violence.
The Detroit Lions had anticipated that Cameron Sutton, a free agent signing from 2023, would start at one of the cornerback positions in the upcoming season.
However, following an announcement from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida that Sutton was wanted on charges of domestic battery violence by strangulation, the Lions have decided to release him. The team made the announcement official on social media the following day.
According to Phil Martello, assistant chief communications officer for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on March 7th around 4:35 in the morning.
Authorities have been unable to contact Sutton despite attempts to reach him. He is said to have vehicles and a home in a neighboring county, but has not been located there either.
Martello mentioned that it appears Sutton may have turned off or disposed of his phone, as they have been unable to reach him through it.
