Xavien Howard, a former All-Pro cornerback, was recently released by the Miami Dolphins, and this could be a perfect opportunity for the reigning back-to-back champions to bolster their team. However, they still need to address the situation with star cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, who is either due for an extension or a trade.
The Chiefs typically prefer younger cornerbacks, but they have a history of signing underrated playmakers for that position. Howard’s skills in man coverage and creating turnovers could be appealing to them. However, if L’Jarius Sneed returns for the 2024 season, Howard may not be as suitable. Nonetheless, if the Chiefs decide to trade Sneed, Howard could be one of the new additions made by general manager Brett Veach to fill the gap left by their top coverage player from last season.
