Breaking News: A Georgia running back, aged 19, apprehended for offenses such as DUI along with three additional charges.
Trevor Etienne, a 20-year-old running back from Georgia and a transfer from Florida, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday for driving under the influence, reckless driving, and two other misdemeanors, according to online records.
Etienne, the younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne, was booked at Athens-Clarke Jail at 4:35 a.m. Sunday and was released about an hour later after posting bond.
The charges against him include DUI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane/improper driving on the road, and affixing materials that reduce visibility of windows/windshield. His DUI charge is labeled as “less safe,” which in Georgia implies he could be convicted even if his blood-alcohol level is below .08.
Etienne, projected as Georgia’s primary running back, joined the team after his tenure at Florida, where he amassed 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns on 249 carries over two seasons. He was ranked as an ESPN top 200 recruit in the 2022 class.
As of now, the team has not issued any statements regarding Etienne’s arrest, and he has been participating in team practices this spring.
Georgia has experienced a series of driving-related incidents involving players in and around Athens, notably a tragedy in January 2023 where recruiting staff member Chandler LeCroy and player Devin Willock lost their lives while racing a car driven by star defensive lineman Jalen Carter, with both vehicles traveling at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
