Vikings wideout gives back to Minnesota, bitterness over departure
Former Vikings star Adam Thielen recently discussed his feelings after leaving the team and Kirk Cousins following him to the NFC South. During his first season with the Panthers, Thielen reached out to the Vikings’ management, expressing “no hard feelings.”
Thielen, who spent 10 seasons with the Vikings, spoke about his new perspective after a year away from Minnesota and the challenges of uprooting his family. He praised the vision of the Vikings’ management and expressed respect for their decision, despite his desire to finish his career in Minnesota.
Despite his move, Thielen and his family remain committed to charitable efforts in Minnesota. The Thielen Foundation recently announced a partnership with UNRL, a Minnesota-based athleisure company, to support youth sports programs in the state.
Thielen is entering the second year of a three-year, $25 million contract with the Panthers. He led Carolina in receptions and receiving yards last season.
In a recent interview, Thielen also discussed playing outside Minnesota, his involvement in youth sports, and his long-term plans in the NFL. He expressed happiness for former teammate Harrison Smith’s return to the Vikings for his 13th season and shared his surprise at Cousins’ move to the Falcons.
Thielen’s departure from the Vikings was emotional but he has since found peace and understanding. He remains close with Cousins and looks forward to facing him twice a year in the NFC South.
