Breaking News: Vikings Pause Negotiations for $76 Million Offensive…

During the peak of free agency, the Minnesota Vikings contemplated an offer to acquire Kansas City Chiefs standout cornerback L’Jarius Sneed but withdrew from negotiations due to concerns about his health, as stated in a recent report.

On March 29, Arrowhead Pride editor-in-chief Pete Sweeney revealed that the Vikings had deliberated on a potential trade deal, offering a 2024 fourth-round pick and a 2025 third-round pick for Sneed.

However, discussions were halted due to apprehensions regarding his medical history. Sneed’s name appeared on 20 out of 22 weekly injury reports during the 2023 season.

Although Sneed passed his physical with the Tennessee Titans, securing his trade to Tennessee for a 2025 third-round pick and a Day 3 pick-swap this year, it was the sole deal available for him, according to Sweeney’s report.

KSTP’s Vikings beat reporter Darren Wolfson commented on the situation, stating that despite Sneed’s eagerness to join Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, the Vikings did not exhibit a strong pursuit of him, likely influenced by uncertainties surrounding Sneed’s injury record.

In contrast, the Titans, confident in Sneed’s medical background, extended him a four-year, $76.4 million contract. Selected in the fourth round of the 2020 draft, Sneed has made an immediate impact since joining Kansas City.

Despite grappling with knee swelling for the past two seasons, he has seldom missed games, starting in 54 career games and tallying 10 interceptions and 40 passes defensed. Additionally, Sneed has participated in every Chiefs playoff game over the past four seasons, including two Super Bowl triumphs.

Notably, he limited opposing quarterbacks to a 66.0 passer rating last season, ranking sixth among NFL cornerbacks, according to Pro Football Focus.
