Breaking News: Steelers Triumph Over Dolphins, Lions, Chargers, and 49ers to Land 29-Year-Old Star from Cincinnati Bengals.
Tyler Boyd has garnered interest from several teams this offseason, remaining one of the top wide receivers available. However, the veteran slot receiver from the Bengals has yet to find a suitable contract offer.
Reportedly linked to the Chiefs, Jets, and hometown Steelers, Boyd has attracted attention from additional teams, including the Chargers, Dolphins, Lions, and 49ers, according to The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly. Some of these teams still have needs at the wide receiver position.
The Lions initially aimed to retain Josh Reynolds but offered a lower-end deal, leading Reynolds to join the Broncos instead. This leaves the Lions with a remaining need for a receiver, although they may not be inclined to invest heavily in one, especially as they anticipate extending Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Odell Beckham Jr. has received an offer from the Dolphins, who are also seeking a WR3, potentially for a one-year rental to complement Jaylen Waddle’s presence.
The 49ers are unlikely to spend significantly on another wide receiver due to existing financial commitments to Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
In contrast, the Chargers, having made recent cost-cutting moves, including trading Keenan Allen, could be more inclined to pursue Boyd. However, a return to Pittsburgh, despite initial interest from both Boyd and the Steelers, now seems less probable after negotiations stalled over contract terms.
With Reynolds off the market, Boyd remains among the notable free agent wide receivers available, along with Odell Beckham Jr., Hunter Renfrow, Michael Thomas, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
While Boyd may find a landing spot soon, it may come at a lower salary than he initially expected, given the current market conditions. Boyd previously played out a four-year, $43 million extension with the Bengals.
