“A 26-Year-Old Star Criticizes Patriots Fans Following Mac Jones’ Remarks?”

Former New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones stirred up Patriot Nation on Friday night with a post on social media platform X that appeared to target the team’s fan base.

Discussing former quarterback Mac Jones’ apparent increase in happiness since joining the Jacksonville Jaguars, the now-Las Vegas Raiders cornerback suggested that Jones’ newfound joy wasn’t solely due to his departure from coach Bill Belichick’s team, but rather a result of leaving behind the entire New England fan base.

In a video shared by the Jaguars on X, the former first-round pick portrayed a carefree and relaxed demeanor reminiscent of his rookie season in New England. Jones jokingly mentioned his interest in rapping, indicating that he could now freely express himself now that he’s no longer with the Patriots.

Jones’ X post seems to be a response to observations about Mac Jones’ improved mood in Jacksonville, implying that Belichick wasn’t the root issue—rather, it was the New England fan base.

The 26-year-old, who played five games for the Patriots last season before being released after Week 10, may not be alone in his views on the New England fan base. A 2023 poll conducted by The Athletic of 85 anonymous NFL players ranked Patriots fans tied for seventh as the most irritating fan base.

This isn’t the first time Jones has expressed frustration towards New England since leaving the team. Just a week after his departure from the Patriots, the 2022 fourth-round pick admonished Patriots reporters and fans, urging them to “back off.”

In contrast, Mac Jones has refrained from making any negative remarks about his time with the Patriots. Instead, he took the opportunity to express gratitude to his former teammates, coaches, and supporters in a heartfelt thank-you letter.
