Denver Broncos to Host Pre-Draft Meeting with Florida State Edge Rusher Jared Verse
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports that the Denver Broncos are arranging a pre-draft visit with Jared Verse, an edge rusher from Florida State University. Expected to be a first-round pick, Verse is considered a prime candidate for the Broncos’ 12th overall selection.
In the NFL’s pre-draft process, each team is permitted to host up to 30 prospects for interviews, workouts, and facility tours—a crucial step in evaluating potential draft picks. Standing at 6’4″ and weighing 254 pounds, Verse is touted as one of the top edge rushers in the 2024 NFL Draft, ranking highly in assessments by lead draft analysts.
Known for his explosive speed and powerful physique, Verse boasts versatility on the defensive front. His pass-rushing techniques include using stutter steps to unsettle offensive tackles and employing a combination of power moves and agility to penetrate blockers. Additionally, he exhibits strong run-defense skills, swiftly closing gaps and demonstrating consistent effort on the field.
During his tenure at Florida State, Verse showcased his prowess with impressive statistics, recording a total of 89 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, and 18 sacks in 25 games. The Broncos, who previously met Verse at the NFL scouting combine, are keen to further evaluate his potential impact ahead of the draft.
If selected by the Broncos, Verse would bolster their defensive lineup with his athleticism and pass-rushing abilities, potentially becoming a cornerstone player. While the team remains focused on quarterback prospects, Verse presents an enticing option if they opt to address defensive needs with their 12th overall pick.
