Former Packers Receiver Signs With NFC Rival

In recent years, the Green Bay Packers have undergone significant changes in their offensive roster, marking an unofficial shift towards a younger generation, heralding a new era for the team. Nevertheless, despite these transitions, the Packers are still regarded as strong contenders to secure a playoff spot in the 2024 season. This achievement is particularly noteworthy considering the team’s decision to trade away four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers just one offseason ago.

Today, it was reported that a former wide receiver from the Packers has signed with another NFC rival team.

New Orleans Saints Sign Wide Receiver Equanimeous St. Brown.

Wide receiver Equanimeous St Brown

According to the New Orleans Saints’ official website, Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has reached an agreement with unrestricted free agent wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown. St. Brown, standing at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 214 pounds, brings six years of NFL experience to the team. He was initially drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round (207th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft from Notre Dame.

During his tenure with the Packers from 2018 to 2021 and the Chicago Bears from 2022 to 2023, St. Brown appeared in 60 regular-season games, starting in 28 of them. Throughout his career, he has amassed 63 receptions for 928 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, St. Brown has contributed on special teams, recording seven tackles and returning a kickoff for 17 yards. In postseason play, he participated in three games with the Packers, registering two receptions for 37 yards, one rushing attempt for one yard, and three special teams tackles.

Equanimeous St. Brown’s Opportunity with the New Orleans Saints.

St. Brown has accumulated five years of experience in the league, spending three seasons with the Packers and two with the Bears. Throughout this period, he has not surpassed 328 receiving yards in a single season, with his two lone touchdowns occurring in 2020 and 2022.

His integration into the Derek Carr-led offense in New Orleans presents an intriguing opportunity. Given his inclusion in a wide receiving corps featuring Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, Cedrick Wilson Jr., Stanley Morgan, and A.T. Perry, St. Brown may find multiple opportunities to showcase his talents.

At 27 years old, St. Brown aims to demonstrate his value and secure a significant contract in the league before reaching his 30th birthday.
