Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has been a subject of NFL trade talks for over a year. With ongoing uncertainty surrounding the team’s starting quarterback, the standout receiver has finally given a clear statement regarding his future with Las Vegas.
Entering his age-31 season, Adams initially expressed a desire to join the Raiders after the Green Bay Packers explored trading him due to contract extension disagreements. He specifically voiced interest in reuniting with Derek Carr, but their on-field partnership lasted only one season. In 2023, the Raiders cycled through Jimmy Garoppolo and Aidan O’Connell at quarterback, leading to the dismissal of head coach Josh McDaniels and the appointment of Antonio Pierce. With limited prospects for acquiring a top quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft, Adams may find himself catching passes from O’Connell and Gardner Minshew next season.
During his annual youth football camp in Las Vegas, Adams definitively stated his commitment to the Raiders to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, saying, “If I wanted to be gone, I’d be gone by now. … This is where I want to be.”
Despite early offseason speculation about quarterback Aaron Rodgers potentially influencing a move to the New York Jets, Adams has consistently expressed his desire to stay in Las Vegas. While the Raiders’ quarterback situation remains uncertain and their playoff prospects for 2024 seem slim, Adams remains steadfast in his allegiance. Nonetheless, his declaration may not deter further NFL trade rumors and conjecture, especially if the team struggles in the upcoming season.
