Chiefs and Team USA welcome 200 athletes gearing up for a girls flag football league.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Team USA recently played host to hundreds of high school athletes in anticipation of launching a pilot program for a girls’ flag football league. According to Team USA, the event drew hundreds of high school flag football players to Arrowhead Stadium on April 21st. Through a collaborative effort, the Chiefs and Team USA enrolled over 200 athletes from Missouri high schools in the spring pilot program for girls’ flag football teams.

 

During the event, the Kansas City Chiefs organized a luncheon and panel discussion focused on girls’ flag football. The panel featured Angellica Grayson, Assistant Coach for Team USA U17 Flag Football, Vanita Krouch, a three-time gold medalist and quarterback for Team USA, Lara Krug, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the Chiefs, and Tiffany Morton, Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Chiefs. Moderated by Dani Welniak, Vice President of Communications for KC Current, the discussion centered on women’s roles in sports and the current landscape and opportunities for women’s athletics.

 

Following the luncheon, participants had the opportunity to watch the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Flag Football Championship Game and take part in a College Flag Football Showcase.
