Cunningham, a standout left tackle at the University of Cincinnati, was drafted by the Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Following a year with Arizona, he was traded to the Patriots, where he spent two seasons. Subsequently, he joined the New York Giants for a two-season tenure, ultimately being released ahead of the 2023 season after failing to secure a spot on the final roster. Across his NFL career, Cunningham appeared in 31 games, starting in six.

His recent social media activity, documenting a turkey hunting trip in West Virginia just four days prior, offered no indication of the tragedy to come. Reacting to the news, former Giants running back Saquon Barkley expressed his shock on social media, while safety Jason Pinnock penned a heartfelt tribute, reminiscing about Cunningham’s infectious smile and supportive nature during their time together with the Giants.
