All eyes were fixed on Olu Fashanu’s mother and his apparent girlfriend during the NFL draft celebrations for the offensive tackle on Thursday night.

Paige Fashanu, along with the unidentified blonde reportedly dating the former Penn State star, gained widespread attention for their reactions after the Jets selected Fashanu with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
During the festivities, Paige sat between her son and the blonde and accidentally bumped into her while embracing the 6-foot-6, 312-pound tackle. Despite the initial awkwardness, Paige, brimming with excitement, eventually put her arm around the blonde in a heartwarming moment.
The two were also spotted holding hands before NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the pick.
However, the internet didn’t hold back, with comments flooding in about the dynamic between Paige and the blonde.
“The girlfriend couldn’t get in there for anything,” one person wrote.
“His mother was definitely in pass pro against the girlfriend. If he’s half as good as her, we’re set for the next decade,” another added.
Even SportsCenter anchors Randy Scott and Gary Striewski discussed the moment on Friday’s show, highlighting the humorous aspect of the situation.
“This is textbook, if you’re reaching, I’m teaching,” Striewski remarked, referring to the blonde’s attempt to reach Fashanu over Paige.
They replayed the clip for dramatic effect, with Scott noting, “Mom goes in for the hug,” to which Striewski responded, “She deserves it first,” before the clip showed Paige pumping her right fist in the air.
