The Ravens are thrilled with their Round 1 pick.

The Baltimore Ravens are thrilled after securing Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Wiggins, 20, was a target for the Ravens throughout the draft process as they sought to bolster their cornerback depth, and they are confident they found the ideal candidate for the position.

General manager Eric DeCosta expressed his excitement, stating, “We’re very, very excited to draft Nate Wiggins. In my opinion, the best cover corner in the draft. Highly athletic, fantastic feet, really, in our opinion, a guy that can grow into becoming a true shutdown-type corner. [We’re] ecstatic that he fell to us.”

Wiggins was the third cornerback selected on draft night, following the Philadelphia Eagles’ pick of Quinyon Mitchell from Toledo at No. 22 and the Detroit Lions’ trade-up to take Alabama’s Terrion Arnold at No. 24.

“We were excited,” remarked coach John Harbaugh. “We were looking for Nate.”

Harbaugh also noted that the Ravens’ defensive coaches were eager about the possibility of drafting Wiggins before the draft, although they didn’t anticipate him being available at No. 30. With the majority of the early draft picks focused on offense, teams targeting defensive players in the first round found themselves in advantageous positions, including the Ravens with Wiggins.
