Which undrafted free agents from the Bills stand the greatest chance of securing a roster spot?
The Buffalo Bills currently boast a deep roster, yet there are opportunities for players to earn spots and roles. Here are three undrafted free agents who have a strong chance of making the team.
Just a few years ago, One Bills Drive was a favored destination for top-tier undrafted free agents, attracted by the chance to join a team with notable talent gaps. However, the landscape has shifted significantly since then.
Over the past seven years, general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott have transformed the Bills into one of the league’s deepest and perennially competitive teams. This evolution has inadvertently made it challenging to attract high-profile undrafted free agents, as fewer clear paths to a roster spot exist in Buffalo.
However, this year may present a different scenario. Beane has reset the team’s direction by parting ways with several veteran starters, creating more opportunities for new talent. While all members of the Bills’ 2024 undrafted free agent class face tough odds, some have clearer paths to securing a spot on the 53-man roster.
Here are three undrafted free agents we believe have the best chance of making the cut:
1. Xavier Johnson (WR, Ohio State):
Johnson, primarily a wide receiver, offers versatility and special teams prowess. His ability to line up across the offense and contribute as a returner makes him a valuable asset. With Buffalo revamping its receiving corps in the offseason, Johnson’s versatility fills a need for the team.

2. Keni-H Lovely (CB, Western Michigan):
Lovely, a boundary cornerback, stands out for his athleticism and knack for making plays on the ball. With Buffalo’s secondary lacking depth in certain areas, Lovely has a chance to compete for a spot by showcasing his skills during training camp and preseason.

3. Gunner Britton (OL, Auburn):
Britton’s experience at both tackle and guard positions provides valuable versatility along the offensive line. While he faces stiff competition, his ability to play multiple roles could earn him a spot on the roster or at least a place on the practice squad.
While these undrafted free agents face an uphill battle, their unique skills and opportunities within the Bills’ evolving roster give them a fighting chance to earn a spot on the team.
