The Buffalo Bills are bolstering their linebacker depth with the addition of Joe Andreessen, a standout rookie with local ties.
Announced on May 11, the team inked the former University at Buffalo standout to a one-year deal after he impressed during the rookie minicamp on a try-out basis. Hailing from Depew, NY, Andreessen is thrilled to kick off his professional career in his hometown, standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 232 pounds.
During his final season at the University at Buffalo, Andreessen showcased his skills by starting in all 12 games, tallying impressive stats including 90 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, one sack, two passes defensed, and one forced fumble in 2023.

Prior to his tenure at UB, Andreessen made waves at Bryant University, where he set a single-season school record for tackles with 116 in 2022, earning him All-American honors.
While Andreessen is excited about the opportunity to play for the Bills, he faces tough competition to secure a spot on the final 53-man roster. Competing with players like fifth-round pick Edefuan Ulofoshio and free agent signing Nicholas Morrow, Andreessen understands the challenge ahead.
Meanwhile, another rookie, wide receiver Keon Coleman, the team’s first pick in the draft, is expected to play a significant role after the departure of top receiver Stefon Diggs and No. 2 receiver Gabe Davis. Coleman has been working closely with Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady to prepare for the upcoming season and has formed a strong personal and professional bond with him.
