BREAKING: Vikings Acquire Top Defensive Lineman.
James Lynch has made his return to the field and rejoined the Minnesota Vikings. Drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Lynch entered free agency this March following the expiration of his rookie contract.
Unfortunately, Lynch’s fourth season was cut short before it even began due to a knee injury sustained during training camp last August. He was anticipated to be an integral part of the interior defensive line rotation, with the versatility to play multiple positions.
Throughout his career, Lynch has played in 37 games, including three starts. His contributions include 53 tackles, with 31 of those being solo efforts, four tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, and a fumble recovery. His presence on the field has been significant, showcasing his ability to impact the game defensively.
In order to accommodate Lynch on the offseason roster, which is limited to 90 players, the Vikings decided to release veteran cornerback Joejuan Williams. Williams appeared in two games for Minnesota in 2023. This move highlights the team’s commitment to incorporating Lynch back into their defensive plans, hoping he can regain form and provide the defensive line with the depth and skill set they envisioned when they drafted him.
