Trending: Ohio State’s Coach Says Michigan Is Struggling Under New Head Coach Sherrone Moore

Last season, Michigan dominated college football, finishing 15-0 and defeating Washington in the championship game. However, their head coach Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL in the offseason, and offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore stepped in as the new head coach.

Former Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith, who worked under Urban Meyer, commented on his Menace 2 Sports podcast that Michigan appears to be struggling under Moore’s leadership. Smith highlighted recent recruiting losses, such as 2025 running back recruit Marquise Davis choosing Kentucky over Michigan and Texas cornerback transfer Terrance Brooks opting for Illinois instead of Michigan.

These setbacks are significant for Moore and his coaching staff. Smith’s remarks suggest that the program is faltering under Moore’s direction. Michigan will need to adapt to life without Harbaugh, and Moore has yet to demonstrate he can lead the team effectively. The Wolverines face challenges, exemplified by Illinois out-recruiting them for a top player.
