John Harbaugh Reacts to Ravens’ Schedule: Chiefs Opener, Christmas Game, and More Highlights
Whenever the NFL schedule is released, all 32 teams meticulously examine every potential advantage and disadvantage, leading to a variety of opinions.
Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh recently joined “The Lounge” podcast for an episode set to air next week during the first week of OTAs. He shared his thoughts on the Ravens’ 2024 schedule.
**On the Ravens-Chiefs Season Opener:**
The Ravens and Chiefs will kick off the NFL season on Thursday, Sept. 5, in a rematch of the AFC Championship. Harbaugh is excited about the opportunity to play on such a prominent stage.
“I was happy. I think it’s a great game to play in. I watch the Thursday night game and can’t wait to get home and watch it when we’re playing on Sunday,” Harbaugh said. “Now we’re going to be playing in that game. I like the idea of playing early. We get to start the season three days earlier than everybody else.”
Harbaugh also appreciates the extra rest following the season opener, as the Ravens will have 10 days between their game in Kansas City and their home opener against the Las Vegas Raiders. Facing the two-time defending Super Bowl champions will be an early test.
“I love playing the Chiefs. I’d like to beat them more often, but that’s the next goal. So much respect for those guys. We just have to make sure we’re ready now,” Harbaugh said.
**On a Tough December with Three Games in 10 Days:**
The Ravens face a challenging December schedule with three games in 10 days against the Giants, Steelers, and Texans.
“We’ve got ways to approach those short weeks,” Harbaugh said. “The good news is that the teams we’re playing have the same issues. Nobody has an advantage. Kudos to the league for doing that.”
**On Another Christmas Road Game:**
The Ravens will make history as the first team to play Christmas road games in back-to-back seasons when they travel to Houston in Week 17.
“It’s crazy for Christmas and for the families, but it’s an honor to play on Christmas Day and in front of the whole world,” Harbaugh said. “I’d love for someone to come here on Christmas Day for our fans, but this is the business we’ve chosen.”
