Alabama Football secures its second 2026 commitment within 48 hours…

Alabama Football secured its first commitment for the 2026 recruiting class on Saturday when Jamarrion Gordon chose the Tide, and now they have their second commitment. The Crimson Tide have received a commitment from four-star recruit Dorian Barney from Georgia. Barney is ranked as the 41st player and the third-ranked cornerback in the country. He chose Alabama over Georgia and South Carolina, among other schools.

With these two commitments, Alabama’s 2026 recruiting class has moved from having no commitments to being ranked fifth in the nation. New defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist has made an impressive start on the recruiting trail, securing his second commitment in just two days. He is currently the only position coach with any commitments for the 2026 class.

Fellow 2026 recruit Jamarrion Gordon, who committed to Alabama earlier, played a role in encouraging Barney to join the Tide.

Alabama made significant progress in Barney’s recruitment after offering him a scholarship in March, surpassing Georgia, the previous favorite, just before Barney’s commitment. Although there is a long way to go until the 2026 class officially signs, Barney is a promising addition, potentially the nation’s best cornerback, already possessing the ideal size for the position as he enters his junior season.

### Crimson Tide Heating Up for the Summer

The Alabama Football team is gaining momentum as they head into a busy summer of recruiting. The Tide will host many of the nation’s top talents over the next few months while building both the 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes. The 2026 recruiting class is particularly significant as it is the first one Kalen DeBoer will assemble without any assistance from Nick Saban, making it a crucial period for the program.
