Detroit Lions Risk Losing Key Front Office Member Brandon Sosna to Washington Commanders.
The Detroit Lions might lose a crucial part of their front office. According to reports from NFL media, the Washington Commanders are in talks to hire Brandon Sosna. While his role with the Commanders hasn’t been specified, it is believed to be a high-ranking position.
Currently serving as the Lions’ Senior Director of Football Administration, Sosna is highly regarded by both the coaching staff and general manager Brad Holmes.
“That’s the great thing about Brandon. He’s about as elite of a communicator as I’ve been around,” Holmes said during the NFL annual meetings earlier this offseason. “And he’s a grinder. He’s a grinder just like I am, just like a lot of guys in our building.”
If he joins Washington, Sosna would be the second major Lions front office member to depart for the Commanders, following former director of player personnel Lance Newmark, who had been with the Lions for 26 seasons.
Sosna would join the staff of new Washington general manager Adam Peters.

Sosna joined the Lions before the 2022 season from USC, where he was the Executive Associate Senior Athletic Director/Chief of Staff. In his role with the Lions, he managed salary cap decisions and was the primary contract negotiator.
Under Sosna’s tenure, the Lions have secured three significant long-term extensions this season, signing Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell, and Jared Goff to deals worth a combined total of over $444 million for the upcoming years.
