The Commanders are actively working to hire Lions executive Brandon Sosna for a prominent front-office role, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media.
Garafolo reports that the team interviewed only a few candidates for the position, including Eagles vice president of football administration Jake Rosenberg. Rosenberg allowed his contract to expire to explore other opportunities both within and outside the NFL.
Sosna’s specific job title with the Commanders has not been disclosed.
At 31, Sosna has spent the past two years as Detroit’s senior director of football administration, overseeing strategic planning and salary cap management as the team’s primary contract negotiator.
Before joining the Lions, Sosna served a three-year stint as the chief of staff for USC’s Trojans. He initially entered the NFL with the Browns during the 2017-18 seasons, starting as a football administration intern and then becoming a salary cap and contract analyst in 2018. Sosna also has experience with the University of Cincinnati, where he worked in two separate stints.
