Eagles Players Stand Up for New Defensive Coordinator Amid Criticism.

On Tuesday, Miami Dolphins safety Jevon Holland appeared to criticize his former defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio. Fangio, now with the Philadelphia Eagles in the same position, received support from two of his new players on Wednesday.

Fangio, who had mutually parted ways with the Dolphins in January, led Miami to a 22nd-ranked defense in his lone season there, with the team allowing an average of 23 points per game. The Dolphins conceded over 30 points in four road games during the 2023 season, including 48 to the Buffalo Bills in Week 4 and 56 to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17.

Fangio’s NFL career began in 1986 as a linebackers coach for the New Orleans Saints, a role he held until 1994. He then took on his first defensive coordinator position with the Carolina Panthers from 1995-1998. Over the next two decades, Fangio served as defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts (1999-2001), Houston Texans (2002-2005), San Francisco 49ers (2011-2014), and Chicago Bears (2015-2018), before becoming the head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2019 to 2021, where the team went 19-30 without making the playoffs.

Fangio joined the Eagles as a consultant in 2022, helping them reach the Super Bowl, before being hired by the Dolphins for the 2023 season.
