“Lions HC Dan Campbell’s WR Assessment Spells Trouble for Opponents”

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was one of four players suspended for sports betting last April.

Initially, Williams received a six-game suspension, but it was reduced to four games after the NFL revised its gambling policy. The 12th overall pick had a challenging training camp last summer, with head coach Dan Campbell occasionally criticizing him. However, over a year after his suspension, Campbell praised the 23-year-old on Thursday.

Williams missed 11 games in his 2022 rookie season due to an ACL tear sustained during the College Football Playoff National Championship game. He ended the season with one reception for a 41-yard touchdown on nine targets in six games, plus one rushing attempt for 40 yards.

In 2023, Williams returned to the field and made an impact with 24 receptions for 354 yards and two touchdowns on 42 targets in 12 regular-season games. He also added six catches for 79 yards and one touchdown in three playoff games, helping the Lions reach the NFC Championship game.

With the same core offensive players returning this fall, a healthy and productive Williams could make Detroit even more formidable.
