Exclusive: Auburn Tigers QB Opens Up on Rivalry with Rising Star, Surprise Recruiting Triumph Revealed!
Earlier this year, Bo Nix, formerly of Oregon and Auburn football fame, secured his spot as the 12th overall pick in the NFL Draft, landing with the Denver Broncos. Nix will reunite with another Auburn QB, Jarrett Stidham, on the Broncos’ roster, despite never having been teammates. Nix succeeded Stidham’s two-year tenure at Auburn.
While Stidham concluded the previous season as the Broncos’ starting QB, he faces competition from Nix and Zach Wilson during the offseason for the coveted QB1 position. This scenario isn’t unfamiliar to Stidham, who boasts prior experience in the league and has navigated quarterback competitions in the past.
Stidham expressed his mindset, stating, “I’ve dealt with this before when I was in New England… It’s a business and I totally understand it. But at the same time, I’m here to compete. I’m not going to just sit down and let someone else walk in here and [just take the role]. I’m going to work my butt off to get the job. (And) I’m super excited about it.”
In other Auburn sports news, the basketball program under head coach Bruce Pearl has secured another significant addition to its roster. Miles Kelly, former Georgia Tech point guard, has committed to the Tigers, marking the third transfer acquisition alongside JP Pegues and Ja’Heim Hudson.
Kelly, who spent three seasons with the Yellow Jackets, emerged as the team’s leading scorer last season, averaging 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists, with a shooting accuracy of 36.9 percent from the field. Despite a slight dip in offensive performance last season, reports indicate a notable improvement in Kelly’s defensive capabilities, offering promising prospects for Auburn’s upcoming season.
