Breaking News: Dolphins Head Coach Troubled by Tyreek Hill’s Contract Termination

With Justin Jefferson securing a historic contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings, the rest of the league now faces pressure. Players like CeeDee Lamb and Ja’Marr Chase are likely next in line, but the Miami Dolphins might also need to address Tyreek Hill’s contract.

Hill has consistently expressed his desire to retire as a Dolphin. This recent development suggests that a contract extension for Hill could be reconsidered. Head Coach Mike McDaniel expressed his satisfaction with seeing Hill and other players attending OTAs, although he noted Hill would not participate in team drills (via Adam Beasley).

McDaniel emphasized his strong relationship with Hill and stated that the organization always aims to treat its players well. He highlighted Hill’s significant impact on his coaching career and the team, advocating for Hill to remain long-term.

Hill is currently in the second year of a four-year, $120 million contract extension signed in 2022 after his trade from the Kansas City Chiefs, making him the highest-paid wide receiver at that time. He is set to earn $45 million in base salary with a $56.3 million cap hit in the final year of his contract, indicating a likely future restructure and extension.

Next season, Hill’s salary will be $19.8 million, which seems modest compared to Jefferson’s new deal.
