The Carolina Panthers have bolstered their wide receiver lineup this offseason with several new additions, but they aren’t stopping there. As reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Panthers are set to sign Daewood Davis, a standout from the Memphis Showboats of the UFL.
Davis, who stands at 6’2″ and weighs 195 lbs, had an impressive spring season with Memphis, recording 41 receptions for 446 yards and five touchdowns. His performance placed him seventh in the league for receiving yards and tied for second in touchdowns.
Davis began his collegiate career at Oregon as a receiver before switching to cornerback for his sophomore and junior years. He then transferred to Western Kentucky, where he returned to the wide receiver position. Over two seasons with the Hilltoppers, Davis amassed 106 receptions for 1,605 yards and 15 touchdowns. Despite going undrafted last spring, he briefly joined the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent.
Currently, Adam Thielen, Diontae Johnson, and Xavier Legette have secured their spots on the Panthers’ 53-man roster. However, there is still uncertainty behind them with players like Jonathan Mingo, Terrace Marshall Jr., Ihmir Smith-Marsette, and David Moore competing for positions. Additionally, undrafted free agent Jalen Coker is expected to be in the mix.
