Tom Brady’s Roast Leaves Former Patriots WR Feeling Disappointed

While many former New England Patriots teammates enjoyed Netflix’s roast of Tom Brady, one ex-wide receiver felt “a little disappointed.”

Speaking to reporters last week, Wes Welker, now a wide receivers coach for the Miami Dolphins, admitted he didn’t have a favorite joke from the roast.

“Not really, I was a little disappointed in the Brady Roast,” Welker said, according to Pro Football Network’s Adam Beasley. “There was some funny stuff and everything, but you know, it was what it was.”

Welker didn’t specify which jokes he disliked and explained why he didn’t attend the roast, unlike other former teammates like Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, and Drew Bledsoe.

“I was not asked to be a presenter. I was asked to sit on the side and get roasted, which I’m glad I wasn’t there,” Welker told reporters. “To each their own, I guess.”

Welker, a four-time All-Pro, spent six seasons with the Patriots, scoring 37 touchdowns and rushing for at least 1,000 yards in five of those years.

Although the roast was mostly successful and elicited many laughs from Brady and others, the seven-time Super Bowl champion expressed some regret over jokes that affected his children. Brady didn’t specify which jokes, but his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, was mentioned several times.
