The Seattle Seahawks boast one of the NFL’s strongest receiver corps, but they’re aiming to enhance their depth by considering a former 1,000-yard wideout.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Robbie Chosen will join the Seahawks’ minicamp on a trial basis. Formerly known as Robbie Anderson and Chosen Anderson, he spent last season with the Miami Dolphins, registering just four catches across nine games.
However, Chosen has a track record of notable production. In 2020, he amassed 1,096 receiving yards for the Carolina Panthers, surpassing his previous high of 941 yards with the New York Jets in 2017, a season that also saw him secure seven touchdowns. With four seasons boasting at least 700 receiving yards, Chosen brings experience to the table.
Though now 31, Chosen’s prime years may be behind him, but there’s optimism surrounding his potential fit with the Seahawks. Despite having DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba as a formidable top trio, the Seahawks recognize the value of bolstering their depth chart.
While undrafted free agent Jake Bobo earned admiration in Seattle last season, Chosen presents a compelling opportunity to solidify a position further down the roster. Although the Seahawks previously signed Laviska Shenault, a former second-round pick, no other receiver beyond Metcalf and Lockett boasts Chosen’s level of proven performance.
Chosen now faces the challenge of proving his worth after a less-than-stellar stint with the Dolphins, demonstrating that he can still provide valuable depth within Ryan Grubb’s offensive scheme.
