General Manager Ran Carthon had shown interest in Marcus Maye, formerly of the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets, earlier this offseason, even hosting him in Nashville for a visit. However, Maye has since signed with the Miami Dolphins.

The extent of the Titans’ interest in Maye remains uncertain. While the visit could have been to clarify last season’s circumstances, including injury and suspension, it’s worth noting that Maye garnered attention from “multiple teams” before opting for the Dolphins. Notably, Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson has a history coaching Maye during their time together with the Jets.
Maye’s decision may ignite movement in the veteran safety market, where the Titans urgently need a reliable starter alongside Hooker. Presently, the roster lacks viable options beyond Elijah Molden, Mike Brown, Shyheim Carter, Keaton Ellis, and Matthew Jackson, none of whom appear capable of assuming a primary role. Justin Simmons stands out as a top available safety, and the Titans have previously shown interest in him. Other potential targets include Quandre Diggs, Eddie Jackson, Tracy Walker, and Kareem Jackson. With Maye off the table, the Titans should prioritize addressing their safety position without delay.
