Chargers News: Proposal Made to Trade Veteran Defender.

The Los Angeles Chargers are entering the 2024 season with renewed enthusiasm, driven by a new coaching team headed by Jim Harbaugh. The excitement for the Chargers’ potential this season is palpable.

Despite the numerous changes, the Chargers remain strong, led by Pro Bowl edge rusher Joey Bosa. The team restructured Bosa’s contract this offseason to free up funds for signing free agents, a tough decision for Bosa, but beneficial for the team. However, if the Chargers eventually trade Bosa, these efforts might be in vain. Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report suggested eight surprising trades that could shake up the NFL, including the Chargers trading Bosa to the Buffalo Bills for a 2025 third-round pick.

“The AFC East has been dominated by the Bills in recent years, but after a seemingly shaky offseason, Buffalo’s grip on the division may have weakened,” Davenport wrote. He highlighted concerns about Buffalo’s wide receiver situation following the departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis and noted the team’s defensive issues, with only Leonard Floyd surpassing 10 sacks last season, who is now with San Francisco. The Bills’ current edge rushers, Gregory Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa, combined for just 11.5 sacks last year.

“To make a deep postseason run, Buffalo needs to pressure quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, and Aaron Rodgers,” Davenport added.

Trading Bosa would be a significant loss for the Chargers, but it could be a practical move. Bosa has missed the last 10 games in consecutive seasons due to various injuries. While his talent is undeniable, so is his struggle to stay healthy.

Whether this trade happens or not, Bosa could be on the move this season or next offseason. Drafted third overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, Bosa has performed well for the Chargers, but his health issues have been a major drawback for a team aiming to improve its fortunes.
