Giants Sign Jacob Saylors as Chase Cota Lands on IR

The New York Giants have added Jacob Saylors, a free agent running back fresh off a season in the UFL. Standing at 5’10” and weighing 199 pounds, Saylors entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the Cincinnati Bengals post the 2023 NFL Draft. After being waived in August, he joined the Atlanta Falcons’ Practice Squad in October 2023, but was later waived due to injury in January 2024. Recently, Saylors played nine games for the St. Louis Battlehawks in the UFL, amassing 461 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 94 carries, along with 23 receptions for 152 yards and three touchdowns.

In a corresponding move, the Giants have placed wide receiver Chase Cota on Injured Reserve after he fractured his collarbone during the team’s recent mini-camp. Cota, standing 6’4” and weighing 200 pounds, joined the Giants in January 2024 on a reserve/future contract. Initially signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted rookie after the 2023 NFL Draft, Cota was released in late August and subsequently spent time on the Practice Squads of the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans.
