The lovable pup took over from his father, Swagger, as the Browns’ mascot in 2019. Swagger had held the role since 2014.
Swagger Jr. continued the tradition of leading the Browns onto the field for home games. He was known for his fondness for chewing on Terrible Towels, and will always be remembered fondly by Cleveland fans.
After the Browns lay Swagger Jr. to rest, a new bullmastiff will be chosen to carry on the Swagger legacy.
The original Swagger was the Browns’ first live mascot.
Cleveland is coming off an 11-6 season, making the playoffs despite using five different starting quarterbacks. They ultimately lost to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round, but it was an exciting year for the team.
Heading into 2024, the Browns have high expectations. Deshaun Watson is returning from shoulder surgery, their top-ranked defense remains strong, and they’ve acquired wide receiver Jerry Jeudy in a trade.
With only one playoff win since rejoining the NFL in 1999, the Browns are eager to make significant progress this season.
