Broncos Endure Heartbreaking Offseason Similar to 2023’s Turmoil
The Denver Broncos are preparing to implement long-term changes to the franchise, and there’s potential for the team to be a breakout contender in 2024. However, the Broncos consistently rank low in power and roster rankings.
Seriously, take a look:
It’s quite baffling, considering the Denver Broncos have upgraded several key positions (QB, RB, WR, DL). People seem to forget that this team won eight games last year despite having a historically bad defense for the first part of the 2023 season. The logic behind these low rankings is unclear.
Why are the Denver Broncos ranked so low? Although power rankings don’t ultimately matter, there was another team in a similar situation last offseason—the Houston Texans.
Like the Broncos this year, the Houston Texans were not highly regarded in 2023. At the time, it seemed odd, as there was a sense that Houston would perform better than expected.
And they did. Not only were they good, but they were great; they won 10 games, clinched the AFC South, and won a playoff game. While I’m not predicting that the Broncos will win 10 games and a playoff game, it’s important to acknowledge that they have the potential to be a breakout team in the 2024 NFL season.
I doubt anyone in the Broncos organization cares much about their NFL power rankings, but it’s interesting to compare the Broncos in 2024 to the Texans in 2023.
