Breaking News: Packers Release Center Milfider Before Training Camp

As the Green Bay Packers prepare for their first practice of training camp on Monday, they’ll be doing so without a few key players. Notably, right tackle Zach Tom and tight end Tucker Kraft will miss the initial sessions due to injuries sustained before the OTAs. Both players are starting camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list but could be activated once they are cleared by the medical staff.

Tom and Kraft are making positive strides in their recovery. Tom, a standout right tackle known for his strong performances against top pass rushers, and Kraft, who had an impressive rookie season, are crucial to the Packers’ success.

Despite their injuries, both players are expected to return soon, though the team will proceed with caution to ensure their full recovery. Coach Matt LaFleur expressed optimism about their progress, noting their commitment and the positive outlook on their return.

Rookie safety Kitan Oladapo, who missed the offseason due to a broken toe, might also start camp on the non-football injury (NFI) list. However, he is nearing full recovery and should be back on the field shortly. Undrafted rookie guard Donovan Jennings is also on the PUP list but aims to be fit for the preseason game against Cleveland on August 10.

In contrast, running back Josh Jacobs, who missed the start of organized team activities with a hamstring injury, is expected to be fully ready for the start of training camp. Jacobs, a key addition to the Packers’ backfield, is eager to have a bounce-back season and has been training rigorously to prepare.

Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Zach Tom takes a bike to practice at training camp last year.

Wide receiver Christian Watson and cornerback Eric Stokes, both of whom were hampered by hamstring injuries in 2023, are set to participate in camp. Watson has been working on strengthening his weaker hamstring to prevent further issues, while Stokes, who had a challenging season due to foot and knee problems, is looking forward to a fresh start. Both players visited a specialist to address their injuries and are optimistic about their health moving forward.

Overall, while the Packers face some challenges with injuries as training camp begins, the team’s key players are showing promising signs of recovery. The hope is that they will be ready to hit the ground running as the season approaches, especially with the opening game against the Eagles set for September 6.
