Breaking News:”Carolina Panthers Shock Fans by Sending Wide Receiver Terrace Marshall Packing”
Former LSU wide receiver Terrace Marshall, once considered a potential first-round pick leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft, now faces the possibility of not making the Carolina Panthers roster, according to an NFL analyst.
Dakota Randall of Pro Football Network has identified Marshall as a potential cut candidate for the Panthers. Despite being touted as a potential #1 receiver, Marshall has struggled to make an impact with the Panthers. Over three seasons, he has not established himself in the Panthers’ receiver corps, and recent signings may push him out.
Marshall has started only 16 games over three seasons with his most productive year in 2022, recording 28 catches for 490 yards and one touchdown. Last season, he managed just 139 yards on 19 receptions, falling behind D.J. Chark and Jonathan Mingo on the depth chart, with Adam Thielen as the primary receiver. He was also outperformed by tight ends Tommy Tremble and Hayden Hurst, and running backs Chuba Hubbard and Myles Sanders.
Now, Marshall must compete for a spot in a crowded receivers corps that includes Thielen, Mingo, free agent acquisition Diontae Johnson, and 2024 first-round pick Xavier Legette. He will likely contend with Ihmir Smith-Marsette, a former Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs receiver, who offers special teams abilities that Marshall lacks, giving him an edge.
Once a highly-regarded draft prospect, Marshall faces an uphill battle to make the roster and finally live up to his potential.
