Former Michigan Football Star Announces Retirement After 2024 NFL Season

Brandon Graham, one of the NFL’s most productive defenders over the past 14 seasons, has announced that the upcoming 2024 season will be his last. The Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive end, and former Michigan star, shared the news with reporters, marking the end of an illustrious career.

Graham, drafted by the Eagles in the first round (13th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft, has been with the team ever since. He has achieved numerous accolades, including being named a second-team All-Pro in 2016, winning a Super Bowl in 2017, and earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2020.

A standout moment in Graham’s professional career came during Super Bowl LII in the 2017 season when he delivered a crucial strip-sack against Tom Brady, helping the Eagles secure their victory over the New England Patriots.

Before his NFL career, Graham was a dominant force at the University of Michigan from 2006 to 2009. He led the nation in tackles for loss in 2009 and was named the Big Ten Conference co-MVP that year. Graham ended his Michigan career second all-time in sacks with 29.5.

Highlights of his college career include being the first defensive player in school history to be named Bo Schembechler Most Valuable Player twice (2008, 2009), sharing the 2009 Chicago Tribune Silver Football as Big Ten’s MVP, earning first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2009, and being a four-year letterman. He played in 47 games and made 28 starts at defensive end, with 40.6% of his tackles occurring behind the line of scrimmage.
