Breaking News: Chiefs’ Star Receiver Hospitalized, Season in Doubt After Preseason Injury
The Kansas City Chiefs were counting on Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to play a significant role this season, with some even calling him the steal of the offseason. However, those plans are now on hold after Brown suffered a serious injury on the first play of Kansas City’s preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Brown caught an 11-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes but was driven into the ground, resulting in a shoulder injury. After the game, ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared an update from head coach Andy Reid on X, revealing that Brown was hospitalized with a “sternoclavicular joint dislocation.”
According to the National Institute of Health, this type of injury involves the rupture of ligaments around the clavicle and could have been more severe if internal bleeding had occurred. ESPN’s injury analyst Stephania Bell provided further insights and her professional opinion on X.

While the exact recovery time for Brown is unclear, it’s likely that Kansas City will need to adapt without him for the remainder of the preseason and possibly the start of the regular season as well.
