The Cleveland Browns faced a significant setback on Sunday when backup center Luke Wypler suffered a broken ankle during their game against the Green Bay Packers. Wypler, who had to be carted off the field, will require surgery and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.

In response to this critical injury, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that the team is actively seeking a replacement for Wypler. The Browns wasted no time, reaching out to the Seattle Seahawks to address their need for a backup center.

As reported by analyst Fred Greetham, Cleveland successfully acquired center Nick Harris from Seattle. Harris, a former fifth-round draft pick of the Browns, had spent his first four NFL seasons with Cleveland before signing with the Seahawks. The trade also included a pick swap: the Browns sent a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Seahawks in exchange for Seattle’s 2026 seventh-round pick.

Harris, originally drafted by the Browns in the 2020 NFL Draft, brings valuable experience to his former team. He appeared in 40 games and made four starts during his tenure with Cleveland. However, his 2022 season was cut short due to a knee injury sustained in the preseason. He returned in 2023 but spent some time playing fullback due to team needs.

With Wypler’s absence, Harris will step in to provide depth and stability to the Browns’ offensive line. The team had also considered veteran center Brian Allen, but he was waived earlier this month following an injury during offseason practices.

The addition of Harris is a crucial move for the Browns as they navigate the challenges of the upcoming season.
