The Seattle Seahawks may be exploring options to bolster their quarterback depth, as they recently hosted undrafted rookie Casey Bauman for a workout. Bauman, who initially signed with the Los Angeles Chargers, was waived last week following their preseason opener against the Seahawks, a game in which the 6-foot-6 quarterback did not see any playing time.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2, the Seahawks are showing interest in the young signal-caller. Bauman had a notable collegiate career, spending his first four years at Montana State before transferring to Division II Augustana University, where he emerged as a full-time starter.

Bauman’s senior season at Augustana was his most productive, as he threw for 29 touchdowns and 2,878 yards while adding five rushing touchdowns and 322 rushing yards. Over his collegiate career, Bauman totaled 43 touchdowns and 4,160 passing yards, showing glimpses of potential despite struggling with injuries throughout his time in college.

Michael Peterson of SB Nation’s *Bolts From The Blue* highlighted Bauman’s “surprising athleticism” for his size, noting his ability to stand tall in the pocket and deliver throws under pressure. However, Peterson also pointed out that Bauman wasn’t a dominant force at the Division II level, raising questions about his ability to make the jump to the NFL.

The Seahawks currently have three quarterbacks on their roster: Geno Smith, Sam Howell, and P.J. Walker. With Smith and Howell expected to secure their spots, Walker provides valuable experience as a veteran backup. If Seattle decides to sign Bauman, it could be as a developmental prospect with an eye toward the practice squad.

With one preseason game remaining against the Cleveland Browns on August 24, the Seahawks could potentially give Bauman a chance to showcase his abilities in game action if they choose to add him to the roster. As the team looks to finalize their roster ahead of the regular season, Bauman could represent a low-risk, high-reward addition for the Seahawks.
